National Cybersecurity Strategy 2016

OBJECTIVE

To create safe and secure cyberspace for the Government, businesses, and citizens of The Gambia, a more resilient critical information infrastructure, as well as better-integrated participation in international initiatives related to strengthening cybersecurity and prevention of cybercrime across the world.

CONTENT

The strategy is based on the following principles:

• Inclusiveness of public policy
• Cross-disciplinary approach
• Lifecycle approach
• Action-oriented strategy
• Clarity of roles and responsibilities
• Threat Neutral Balance between security and Privacy
• Implementation

The Strategy is focused on the following 5 priority goals:

• Develop and enhance awareness, training, and education in cyber security
• Establish and develop institutional governance and capabilities in cybersecurity
• Ensure the protection of information systems, in particular, those underlying important services
• Develop the Legal and Regulatory Framework on cybersecurity
• Foster national and international cooperation
